If you don't mind travelling a bit further afield, and you have a young budding car enthusiast you might want to check this out for Sunday.

On Sunday they are hosting a Super Car day.

This year promises to be even better.

Free activities for 7+ run by council

Hi everyone

apologies for not having done this for a while. For those that know me you would understand that it is only due to having just had my third baby, Isla-Jo, who was born with a floppy windpipe so needs extra help with feeding. But we are now out of hospital and slowly but surely getting into a routine.

Anyhoo, Gosport Council are running free activities for children this summer but only for ages 7+. A bit of a shame compared to last years free play schemes for all ages but still, it is better than nothing.

The schedule is listed below:

Gosport Borough Council will have mobile Activity Rangers operating in and around Gosport during the summer break, providing sports activities for children aged 7 – 11 years of age.

The sessions, which will operate for three weeks, run from Monday 1 till Friday 19 August from 10am to 11.30am and 1.30pm to 3pm. It will involve a team of 6 Activity Rangers, or qualified sport and play instructors, visiting different parks and open spaces on different days to run mainly sporting activities, plus a few play activities.

The dates, times and venues are as follows:
MONDAY 1, 8, 15 AUGUST         Lee Recreation Ground, 10am - 11.30am
                    Holbrook Recreation Field, 1.30pm - 3pm

TUESDAY 2, 9, 16 AUGUST     Privett Park, 10am - 11.30am
                    Grange Junior School, 1.30pm - 3pm

WEDNESDAY 3, 10, 17 AUGUST    Nobes Avenue Field 10am - 11.30am
                    Grove Road Recreation Ground, 1.30pm - 3pm

THURSDAY 4, 11, 18 AUGUST    Walpole Park 10am - 11.30am
                    Elson Recreation Ground, 1.30pm - 3pm

FRIDAY 5, 12, 19 AUGUST 2011    Leesland Park, 10am - 11.30am
                    Lee Recreation Ground, 1.30pm - 3pm

All activities are FREE and no registration is required, simply complete a consent form on your first visit. Registration will be held 15 minutes before the start of each session.

“The Activity Rangers will provide a wide range of mainly sporting activities over the 3-week period, and for those who prefer it; arts and crafts will also be available at some sites,” said Councillor Graham Burgess, Chairman of the Community Board at Gosport Borough Council. “But whatever you decide to do, the emphasis will all be about having FUN!  We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Extended Services for funding this year’s Summer Provision in Gosport.”

For more information contact Mark Reynolds, Leisure Development Officer, on Tel: (023) 9254 5723, request a copy of this summers Stuff 2 Do booklet; or log onto the website at http://www.gosport.gov.uk/   The sessions will not operate if it’s raining.
